COVID-19
COVID-19 Guest Information
Dear Guest,
Welcome to The Farthings. We do hope that you will enjoy your stay with us here in York. Due to the government guidelines for Covid 19, we have had to introduce some new procedures within the business in order to keep everyone safe.
Keys and parking permits.
You will have collected your key from the safety box. With your welcome pack will be your parking permit if you have requested one. This is valid in any zone which is indicated as R49. Please place it in the dashboard of your car, and return it to the desk in reception when you check out after your stay. Please put your key in the key drop on the desk, so that they may be sanitised before the next arrival.
Guest Registration form.
Please complete these fully including contact numbers as these are a government requirement for the NHS track and trace system should the need arise. When completed please place these in the black box on the circular table in reception face down, so that your personal details are not visible.
Breakfast order and procedure.
In order to maintain social distancing we have had to introduce a pre-order breakfast menu to be returned the evening before. Tables have been re-spaced and we will be doing 2 breakfast sittings. 8Am-8.45 and 9am–9.45. You will have been allocated a time, and we would request that you please adhere to these, so that we are able to sanitise and re-set the dining room for the next guests. Please arrive at the start time where possible, so that we can manage this effectively. The dining room door will be open when you arrive, and there is a hand sanitiser outside which we would request that you use before entering. When you arrive you will be advised where you will be seated. If you arrive at the same time as other guests, please maintain social distancing whilst waiting.
Contact bell
Although we have introduced procedures to minimise contact, we do live on site and will be contactable during your stay if you need us at all. The bell is located at the base of the stairs on the door jamb by the circular table. This will alert me if you require assistance whilst I am in the building. If you need someone and there is no one on site, you can call the mobile number 07977 934705.
WIFI Code
The WIFI code is pussycats, and allows you to log onto either The Farthings or Farthings 1, whichever works best on your floor.
Mini guide.
We have supplied you with a mini guide, and indicated the route into the city from the guest house. All attraction leaflets etc have been temporarily removed from reception, but are available on request. Please be aware that attractions may be only accessed via an online booking system to limit numbers, along with bars and restaurants, so please bear this in mind.
Rooms with a shared bathroom.
Due to government guidelines we are currently unable to allow guests to freely use a shared bathroom for showering purposes. Therefore we are limiting the amount or rooms made available, and have allocated a private bathroom for your use which now has a lockable door. This may be on the same floor or the floor below. Please ensure that you re-lock the door after use, so that it cannot be used by other guests. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but our guests safety is our upmost concern.
Room cleaning.
In order to maintain social distancing, limit the spread of infection and keep everyone safe, there will be no room cleaning during your stay. If you require additional tea/coffee etc please place the wooden heart on the outside of your door, and it will be placed outside for you in a sealed bag. If you require clean towels, please place them outside in the sealed bag provided, and they will be replaced for you. We have temporarily removed bathrobes, decorative cushions and any literature such as bedroom browsers as safety measures, and introduced antibacterial hand wash, and disinfectant spray for your use. Your room will have been fully sanitised prior to your arrival in line with government guidelines.
Additional Covid 19 procedures.
Wall mounted hand sanitisers are located throughout the building on every floor, indicated by signage above. Please make use of them, and wash your hands regularly. There is a wall mounted temperature checker located on the wall where you enter and exit the building in reception. We would suggest that you use this whenever you arrive or leave the building. Common areas will be kept clean and sanitised at regular intervals throughout the day, paying attention to door handles, bannisters, switches etc that have regular use. Please maintain the two metre social distancing rule, when coming into contact with other guests where possible.
Check out procedure.
Check out is at 10am. If you have already settled your bill you may leave your key in the key drop on the reception desk, along with your parking permit. Payment can be made by credit card or cash. If you prefer to pay by card, this can be taken the day before you leave from the credit card provided. If you would like to pay by cash you may ring the contact bell, and we will check you out personally. Social distancing will be maintained at all times.
Covid 19 virus symptoms.
Information for guests who may present with symptoms during their stay.
If you present with Covid 19 symptoms during your stay with us, you should inform us straight away, immediately self isolate in your room to avoid transmission, and request a Covid 19 test.
If you are then confirmed to have Covid 19, you should return home if you reasonably can. This can only be in private transport, and only driving if you can do so safely. If you cannot reasonably return home for any reason, then your circumstances will have to be discussed with an appropriate health care professional or the local authority.
If you are confirmed as having possible or confirmed Covid 19, and once you have returned to your main residence, you must follow the government guidance on self isolation, household isolation and social distancing.
This will apply to all guests that are present in the same room.
If you experience acute symptoms, have breathing difficulties, or your life may be at potential risk, please contact us immediately so that we may seek medical help.
It is particularly important that you provide correct information and contact details on your guest registration form, in order that we can use this for the NHS track and trace system, in a situation whereby we may have a guest that presents with Covid 19 symptoms.
A final thought……...
Whilst we hope we have managed to cover all areas, in order to maintain both our guests and our own safety, we are not disease control specialists, and would welcome comments if there is anything you think we could improve on going forward. Please also do not think we are inaccessible, as even with the current constraints, we would not like you to leave without experiencing an essence of that true Yorkshire welcome that we are proud of.
